Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Bernie believes that people usually have within themselves the solutions to their own problems. By talking about it in counselling they can discover their own personal qualities and other resources which can help them to lead more satisfying lives.
Bernie uses an integrative approach combining Humanistic therapy with aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She works to help clients to discover their own solutions by offering alternative perspectives, challenging unhelpful thinking and helping them explore their life’s meaning and purpose.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Bernie has experience of working with adults, adolescents and couples dealing with issues such as loss and bereavement, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship problems, abuse, sexuality and anger management.
“One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own.”
