Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Maria holds an MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Ireland and IT Carlow. Maria has continued to expand her knowledge and skills by participating in regular training workshops and seminars including – Integrating Art in Psychotherapy, Relational Psychotherapy, CBT and Anxiety, Introduction to Somatic Experiencing, Deep Listening, Mindfulness, Working as a Therapist Online, Introduction to Internal Family Systems and Introduction to Energy Therapy.
An accredited member of IACP (Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy), Maria abides by their code of ethics, attends regular supervision and is committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Maria works in a warm and compassionate way. She wishes for her clients to feel safe and know that they are welcome exactly as they are.
Maria comes from the Gestalt understanding that we are, in every moment, adapting as creatively as we can to our circumstances. However, in myriad ways, we can interrupt our best instincts. Through the therapeutic relationship, we are supported to recover our ability to articulate our needs and navigate our environments effectively to meet them.
The client’s autonomy and right to self-determination is valued as well as the pace with which the client feels comfortable.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Maria has extensive experience of working with men and women from all age groups. Maria’s gentle and holistic approach works particularly well with a range of issues including low self-esteem, anxiety, social anxiety, depression, work distress and relationship difficulties as well as supporting clients with their decision making, self-acceptance and creative expression. Maria would like her approach to be neurodiversity affirming and, with that intention, continues to upskill herself.
Maria wishes for clients to become compassionate and attentive to their own experience and the intelligence of how their different levels of functioning – body, mind, feelings, spirit – integrate in a movement towards healing and growth.

Maria’s fee is €70 per session
