Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Joanna completed a Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and holds Masters in Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School. She also completed a level 9 training course in CBT with Institute of Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Joanna is an accredited member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy).
Joanna is also a qualified yoga and meditation teacher, and she completed Reiki, Seichem and Golden Dragon energy healing training (level 2) at Aria Therapy.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Joanna studied various theories and approaches to psychotherapy and has a humanistic-integrative approach to her practice. That means that she believes in seeing each client as a unique person with inner potential for self-healing and self-actualisation. She draws on a range of different psychotherapeutic traditions to facilitate the therapeutic process, including person-centred therapy, psychodynamic, attachment therapy, somatic/body psychotherapy, existential and gestalt.
Joanna works in a way that focuses on the mind-body connection appreciating the power of the unconscious mind, the wisdom of the body, and the impact our past relationships and experiences had on our present.
As a therapist, Joanna values connection, transparency, unconditional acceptance, and authenticity.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Joanna has experience working with clients who experience a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders, low self-esteem, grief, breakups, issues with work and career, family and relationship difficulties.
Joanna has a special interest in working with LGBT+ clients.
