Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Martina values the uniqueness of her clients, and she respects that we all have our own individual stories, which often influence our decisions and behaviors. By leading with compassion, authenticity, honesty and humour, her objective is to create a space where people can feel safe, supported, and understood. Absolutely central to Martina’s counselling and psychotherapy philosophy is her belief that the quality of the relationship between therapist and client is key to effective therapy.

Working integratively, she tailors her practice to the unique needs of each person, using various approaches derived from a combination of person centred, psychodynamic, gestalt, psychosynthesis, CBT, existential, attachment and trauma informed teachings.

Her work is also influenced by her belief in the intimate relationship between the mind and body, as well as the interconnectedness and mutual effect of thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Providing psychoeducation and resources for somatic therapies are often part of the process of how she works to assist clients in developing the resources within themselves to self-regulate and move out of a distress response into a higher functioning mode where they can think more clearly.
