Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Petrina began her training in the Tivoli Institute in Dublin in 2010, completing the Foundation Course in Psychotherapy before embarking on the 4 year post graduate Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy. Petrina also holds a Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from South East Technological University.
Petrina is a member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and adheres to its strict codes of professional conduct and ethics. She is also registered with the Irish Council of Psychotherapy.
Petrina is committed to continuing professional development, and attends regular seminars and workshops, in addition to clinical supervision.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Petrina works from an integrative and humanistic perspective, which recognises and supports our innate capacity to grow, to develop, to change and to heal. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of this process.
She fosters a safe therapeutic space where clients can explore difficult issues, emotions and experiences, and gain a better understanding of themselves and what changes they might like to make. Petrina works in collaboration with clients, integrating perspectives from psychodynamic, gestalt, cognitive and somatic approaches.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Petrina has been in private practice since 2016. She is an experienced and accredited psychotherapist who works with individual adults from all life stages and has clinical experience in working with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss, trauma, sexuality and personal growth.
