Psychology Training and Accreditation

Cathy is a fully trained Chartered Counselling Psychologist who has obtained her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Trinity College Dublin. Cathy has received training in Person-Centred Therapy, Somatic and Body-Oriented Modalities, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) levels 1 and 2. Cathy has also obtained her Higher Diploma in Psychology and her B.S.S in Social Work. Cathy is a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and adheres to the ethics and regulations of the PSI within her work.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Cathy sees clients who are 16+ years old and she uses an Integrative Person-Centred approach. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is central to the work and values establishing a safe, warm, non-judgmental, and empathetic therapeutic relationship with every client. Cathy works in a collaborative fashion, meaning that every person's unique goals for therapy are prioritised in the work. She focuses on meeting each person where they are at and adapts her approach to reflect the needs, goals and personality of each person she works with. Cathy uses a holistic and creative approach and draws extensively on EFT and Somatic modalities of work. This means that she uses emotions and the body as both a guide and a resource in therapy.  Cathy also uses a Psychodynamic approach which will help people explore how their past is influencing their current issues and other areas of their life. Cathy can provide short-term, solution-focused therapy where needed, but typically works on a longer-term basis. By engaging in therapy for a more extensive period, the root of issues can be explored and worked with to provide deep, lasting changes that help an individual move forward in life.

Cathy has worked with neurotypical and neurodivergent clients. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults from various cultures, ethnicities, LGBTQIA+, religions and spiritualities. She has also provided psychoeducational workshops to professionals across various domains. Cathy has trained and worked in individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy and group therapy. Cathys’ fee structure is:

€150 - Intake Assessment Fee (1.5 hours)

€120 per therapy session.
