Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Eimear holds a BA in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the International College for Personal and Professional Development (ICPPD), Athlone. She has also acquired a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Limerick. Eimear is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and abides by their code of ethics in her practice. She has regular supervision as well as engaging in ongoing professional development. She works with individuals aged 18 years and above.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Eimear’s training is in integrative and holistic psychotherapy and she tailors her approach to each individual client as she is sensitive to the uniqueness of human nature. Some of the therapeutic models she draws on include psychodynamic, person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), family systems theory, psychosynthesis and mindfulness. Eimear believes that we all have an innate drive for growth and balance in our lives. Sometimes this drive becomes lost or stuck when we face challenging times and we can feel like something is holding us back. Eimear’s focus then is on meeting people exactly where they are, which is often in pain, and working with them to accept their present reality so that change is made possible. Her goal is to facilitate clients in understanding their patterns of behaviour and identifying how these patterns may be impacting on their lives in ways that they no longer want.Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Eimear has worked as a psychotherapist with Let’s Get Talking in Galway since 2020 and started her private practice here at Mind and Body Works in 2022. She has also worked in the disability sector. She has experience working with issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, personality disorders, trauma, self-esteem, neurodivergence, suicidal ideation, family relationship issues, fertility. Eimear’s particular areas of interest include increasing clients’ self-acceptance, using psychoeducation to treat anxiety, helping people with diagnosed or suspected ASD/ADHD carve out a place for themselves in a neurotypical world.Eimear’s fee is €80 per session
