Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Ilona received a MA in Psychology from Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland). She also holds a Diploma in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Institute of Analytic Psychotherapy in Warsaw (Poland).
Ilona completed 3 levels of training in EMDR.
She is a Chartered Psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland, a full member of it’s Psychotherapy Division. She is a fully accredited by the IFPP (the Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).
Ilona adheres to the Codes of Ethics defined by the Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and the Psychological Society of Ireland.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Ilona offers psychotherapy which is collaborative and respectful.
Ilona’s clinical approach to counselling and psychotherapy is psychoanalytically informed. She draws on psychodynamic, systemic theories and practices and other approaches and always looks for the most suitable way of helping each person, having in mind their resources and needs.
She provides a gentle, safe place free from judgment to talk openly about yourself and your troubles, where you can learn to listen to yourself in a different way and understand your experiences.
She will be interested in how your past impacts your present and will help you to develop a greater understanding of the unseen patterns of behaviour that can underlie psychological distress.
Experience and Areas of Interest
Ilona works with individuals and couples experiencing various difficulties. She is interested in helping you to alleviate your pain and develop more enjoyable way of relating to yourself and others.
She is interested in helping others to understand why they feel depressed, lack motivation, direction and perhaps confidence, feel stuck not knowing which life choices they should make, who may be frozen in dead-end relationships, working situations and not have the tools nor the energy to make changes, who fear stepping out of their comfort zone as uncertainty seems too scary, who need to attend to their emotional scars.
Ilona has extensive experience in helping people since graduating from Jagiellonian University in 2000. She has worked in the National Psychiatric Services in Poland, in Student Counselling Services at the University of Limerick and in private practice in Galway.
She has been working with clients of the National Counselling Service, HSE and her availability so see private clients is limited.
Ilona's fee structure is as follows:
Preliminary consultations for couples (50 minutes): €140
Psychotherapy sessions for couples (50 minutes): €120
Preliminary consultations for individuals (50 minutes) : €100
Psychotherapy sessions for individuals (50 minutes): €80
Preliminary consultations for EMDR (50 minutes): €100
EMDR sessions (50 minutes): €80
EMDR sessions (80 minutes): €120.
