Maxine's fee structure is:

€90 for 50 mins. session with individuals €140 for 60 mins. session with couples €160 for 90 mins. session with couples or families Any reduced rates for students or those unemployed can be negotiated with Maxine.

Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Maxine is a Senior Counselling Psychologist and a Chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (M12070C). She obtained a BSocSci Honours in Psychology from the University of Pretoria and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Maxine is currently completing her PhD in the Mental Health experiences of young adults with the University of Pretoria in South Africa. These qualifications provided her with experience in a variety of psychotherapies and psychometric assessments included but not limited to Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Play therapy and Logotherapy and Assessments on Personality, Values, Careers, Autism Spectrum and Cognitive Aptitude. She also continues to engage in multiple trainings and workshops in the latest research in psychology, psychotherapy, and assessments. These include Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR) and assessments with children and adolescents.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Maxine sees adolescents (alongside caregivers), adults and couples. Maxine takes a tailored approach to each client assessing their needs, personality and goals; and guides them in creating a meaningful life. She believes every individual deserves and has the potential to have a fulfilling life. Part of life is being reflective and learning to manage the ups and downs of life. At the end of the day, you spend the most time with yourself, so it is important to have a healthy relationship with yourself and your life. Maxine’s approach is insight oriented and integrative. This means that her counselling and psychotherapy has a base in personality theories such as Freud, Jung and Winnicott and using techniques such as addressing cognitions, tolerating and releasing emotions and learning new skills. Important practices that Maxine promotes are self-care/wellness, self-growth and empowerment.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

In the last decade, Maxine has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups, dealing with a variety of mental health conditions. Her training was in clinical settings, the university/college setting and various children’s homes seeing abandoned children and adolescents. She has managed her own private practice since 2017 and worked both face-to-face and online. Her areas of interest are complex trauma, mood disorders, stress, burnout, grief, couples, mental wellness, and personality development. “Sometimes we all need a place to be ourselves.” “We are all we have, but we are not all we need.”
