Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Paul holds a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and an Honours Degree in Psychology. Paul is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and he abides by their code of ethics. Paul is committed to on-going training and professional development, regularly participating in training workshops and seminars.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Paul’s approach is humanistic and person centred; that is the whole person is considered from the perspective of you, the client. He draws upon on a number of different approaches including , Gestalt and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy among others. What can you as a client expect when attending Paul for psychotherapy?  You will meet with Paul for a one-hour appointment on a weekly basis.  During these appointments, the conversations and engagement between you and Paul will allow you the opportunity to explore and work through what is going on for you. This happens in a safe, confidential and supportive space, where Paul offers you genuineness, unconditional positive regard and empathy.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Paul has worked with a variety of people, of different genders and ages.  He believes that at the core of anyone’s difficulties lie a combination of anxiety and loss.  He strives to help his clients with whatever issues that are troubling them – are they lying awake at night with minds racing? Have they suffered a loss in their life?  Have they experienced some other kind of trauma? Are they experiencing stress or anxiety? Or are they looking for something but not sure what it is, looking to discover their own meaning in their life? These are the types of issues Paul has worked with and can help you with. Paul has a particular interest in working with dreams. This could be as part of the counselling process or could be just something that a client may wish to explore.
