Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Sally has a Master of Arts in Integrative Psychotherapy (2019) and a BA(Honours) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy (2015) from Cork Institute of Technology. Sally also holds further qualifications from UCC:  Diploma in Community Guidance and Support Studies for Young People (2008) and Diploma in Parent Mentoring (2007). Sally completed her Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) training in 2020 and has recently become an accredited EMDR practitioner. Sally also recently completed her Diploma in Supervision and Reflective Practice. In 2022 Sally trained with EAGALA (Equine Assisted Learning and Growth Association) with whom she is now an accredited member and is enjoying her work in the area of equine assisted psychotherapy and supervision. Sally’s training has included developmental trauma, mindful self-compassion, contemplative neuroscience, internal family systems, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing and CBT. Sally is a fully accredited member of IACP (Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) (M10845).

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Sally enjoys working with a Person-Centred approach, while drawing from an integration of therapeutic modalities according to what best fits the client. These modalities include psychodynamic, Gestalt, Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, EMDR and Mindfulness. Sally is very presence-oriented and works in a relational way. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is an essential ingredient of the therapeutic process.  Sally believes that it is through the relationship and connection with another that a person is given the opportunity to make sense of their experiences.  In this meaning making a person can make changes which enable them to live life as fully as possible. Sally feels there is the opportunity for the client to experience a relationship in therapy which facilitates the client to trust and see the world as a safe place. As well as providing the potential for the healing of wounds from the past, the relationship facilitates the client to build on their self-confidence and further their personal development. Sally is genuinely interested in supporting individuals on their journey, with a holistic approach focusing on both the mind and the body to offer possibilities for managing feelings in everyday life and developing healthy ways of coping with stress and anxiety. Sally aims to encourage and empower individuals to lead a satisfying life, having meaningful relationships with others.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Originally from the UK, Sally moved to Ireland in the late 1990s when she began to focus on personal development work, leading into counselling and psychotherapy training in 2011.  Sally opened her own private practice in 2015, which she continues to develop, alongside supporting community counselling projects.  Sally has a special interest in equine assisted psychotherapy and in the connection between horses and humans in the healing process. Sally is a qualified Adult Literacy Tutor and Trainer and has experience of working in different Education and Training Centres supporting and empowering individuals on their academic and personal journeys. Sally works with adults experiencing  depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, trauma, loss and bereavement, self-esteem issues and areas of personal development.

Sally's fee is €70 per session
