Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Amanda holds an Honours Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy from the Tivoli Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies. Amanda is committed to ongoing training and development.
She is a fully accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and honours their code of ethics. Amanda attends regular supervision as well as ongoing training and workshops.
Approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy
Amanda works on the premise that each person is unique and responds differently to therapy and therefore requires a person centred approach. She uses a holistic approach and is trained in a variety of therapeutic models. Her main influences are Person Centred Theory, Humanistic and Integrative, Psychodynamic therapy, Attachment Theory, Transpersonal Psychotherapy and CBT.
Amanda strongly believes that trust in the therapeutic relationship is key to supporting people. She believes in meeting clients where they are at and working collaboratively in the “here and now” while providing them with a safe supportive space to explore what is happening for them.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Amanda has over eighteen years of experience working with people with Mental Health Issues, ASD, Learning Disabilities, Young Mothers and At Risk Youth in a variety of settings. She has worked in two Community Counselling Services where she supported people experiencing Depression, Grief, Trauma, Abuse, Stress and Anxiety.
Amanda’s areas of interest include ASD, Anxiety, Depression, Self-care, Trauma, Relationship problems, Grief and loss, Confidence, Personal Development and Infertility and Pregnancy Related Issues.
