Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Valerie holds a BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from the IICP Dublin.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Valerie’s training was in humanistic and integrative psychotherapy. However, as there is no, ’one-size-fits all’ , she takes an eclectic approach drawing from many modalities, to tailor the therapy to each individual client. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Humanistic, Choice Theory and Person Centred Therapy. Valerie also integrates Motivational Interviewing, depending on the needs of her clients.
Valerie is client-focused, working collaboratively with clients whilst drawing on her training and background in these various approaches. Her warm empathic style provides a supportive environment so that clients can explore and uncover blocks that may be affecting their overall happiness, helping them find better ways to deal with their problems.
Valerie views the therapeutic relationship as the most central piece in the therapeutic process. Valerie will encourage this with each client by providing a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space, in which the client can explore and process their thoughts and experiences.
